National Oatmeal Month
Now that the introductions are over, I think it's about time I get around to blogging about some actual sweets. Did you know that January is National Oatmeal Month? Well if you didn't know, now you do. And in celebration of oatmeal I will be sharing a couple of recipes that have oatmeal in them this month. Oatmeal cookies never get as much attention as the all mighty chocolate chip cookie. It's not the oatmeal's fault though; it's those pesky raisins! I love raisins, but there are many out there like my husband who would be perfectly content with them as far away from their cookies as possible. January seems like the perfect time to give oatmeal cookies some love and time in the spotlight.
Yummy Yummy
A few of my favorite things happen to be peanut butter, chocolate chips, and oatmeal. So I decided to throw them all together into a cookie! The only thing missing is a banana and I'd be in heaven...but that's for a future oatmeal cookie recipe. For today let's enjoy the beauty and deliciousness of these Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.
I could easily eat an entire batch of these by myself, especially when they are nice and hot out of the oven. They are really that good! And there's oatmeal and nuts and peanut butter in them so that makes them healthy right? And the iron from the nuts and peanut butter are good for my anemia so I don't mind allowing myself to get a little carried away. Haha!

Peanut Butter bliss
Is your mouth watering yet? Mine has been just looking at these pictures! Even before these cookies go into the oven the smell starts getting to me. Doesn't the dough look good enough to eat?
Ah, peanut butter! I just love the smell of peanut butter. Since my sister is allergic I try to bake with it as much as possible when she isn't around. It's made peanut butter a delicacy for me.
Enough about peanut butter, this post is supposed to be about oatmeal! Let's just go on to the recipe.

Get Nuts I hope you are able to enjoy these as much as I do. My favorite kind of nuts to use are walnuts, but use whatever you like in yours. In fact you could even skip the nuts all together! Use your favorite kind of peanut butter too, smooth, chunky, organic its all up to you. Make it your own My favorite part about baking, cooking, and even decorating desserts is the fact that you can make it your own! To me a recipe is like a house. It is a basic structure, but the personality and love that we put into it makes it ours and turns it into a home. Do you have any special plans to celebrate National Oatmeal Month?
